Fish in New Mexico include Bass, Catfish, Crappie, Perch, Pike, Salmon, Sunfish, Trout, & Walleye.
Regulations for specific waters:
Lake Maloya (Sugarite State Park): No gas motors, trolling speed only.
Laguna Madre (Maxwell lakes): The posted portion within 150 feet of the outlet is closed to fishing.
Maxwell Lakes 13 & 14: Season Begins Noon March 1 through October 31.
Springer Lake: Boats are restricted to trolling speeds when water storage is under 1,000 acre feet. Ice fishing
is not allowed.
Bag Limits:
Striped Bass- 2 per day
Black Bass- 5 per day
Large mouth & spotted - 14 inch minimum size to keep
Small mouth - 12 inch minimum size to keep
Walleye- 5 per day
14 inch minimum size to keep
Northern Pike- 10 per day
Catfish- 15 per day
(all species except bullheads)
Crappie- 20 per day
White Bass, white bass x striped bass hybrids- 25 per day
All other warm-water game fish- 20 per day
(bluegill, bullheads, sunfish, yellow perch)
Possesion limits: twice the daily bag limit.
