Sports Arena is a downtown Raton business where customers can count on great service, good quality, and a great line of sports clothes, shoes, trophies, awards, and other specialty items. The store was opened in 1978 by Randy Rubin and his brother Ron Rubin. Randy later bought out his brother and has the store has become a mainstay in Raton’s downtown business community. Students, civic organizations and other businesses depend on Randy’s expertise to provide the perfect trophy, gift, jacket, or athletic shoes for that special occasion. In 1999 Tami Rubin, Randy’s wife added embroidery to the services provided by Sports Arena.

Sports Arena is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Besides Randy, Jennifer Stevens, and Cole Kuchan are on the sales floor throughout the week to assist customers. Occasionally LuAnn Young will help out at the store, but generally she is kept pretty busy creating the beautiful embroidery applied to jackets, caps, shirts, or other items. Additionally, Pam Mayes works part-time as the store’s bookkeeper.

Not only does Sports Arena provide an important retail storefront to our downtown business community, but Randy has generously given back to the community with his volunteer efforts, sponsorship of school groups and dedication to his business.
