The Pack Rat is a gift shop owned and operated by Janet and LeRoy Valencia. It opened in March of 2007 with the idea of providing a variety of affordable and unusual gift items that would suit the taste and budget of just about everyone. The Pack Rat is located on beautiful Historic 1st Street in downtown Raton where you will always find fast, friendly and great customer service.

One of a kind gift baskets (premade or custom made just for you) are a specialty of The Pack Rat. You can also find a wide variety of unique gifts, including  but not limited to Native American jewelry,  wall crosses, religious items, gourmet  kitchenware,  purses, blankets and shawls,” Made in New Mexico” items as well as  a variety of other gifts and collectibles that make this a well rounded place to shop for all your gift giving needs.  The Pack Rat also carries a large selection of New Mexico Souvenirs, Pinon Coffee and specialty New Mexico foods for our out of town visitors.

Since The Pack Rat is located just across from the Amtrak and Greyhound stations, amenities such as cold drinks and snacks as well as a complimentary baggage holding area and tourist information are offered for travelers passing through Raton.

Special requests and suggestions are always welcome.  LeRoy and Janet will do their best to try and accommodate your needs.  “We want customers to leave our shop happy.”  New merchandise is constantly being added so stop in often to see what’s new or to just say “Hello”.

Thank you for shopping and supporting your local businesses.

“If you like our name, you’ll love our gifts”
